World Indoor Tour Gold 2025: Winners from Karlsruhe Winners still celebrating after tour final in Madrid
When the World Indoor Tour Gold 2025 came to an end last Friday in Madrid, Spain, it was clear to eleven athletes that they would be competing at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Nanjing, China, in a few weeks' time: This is because the top finishers in each discipline on the tour received a wild card for the upcoming world championships in addition to 10,000 US dollars in prize money - and there are some familiar faces among them. Five athletes who had already stood at the top of the podium at the INIT INDOOR MEETING Karlsruhe on 7 February were able to celebrate overall victory in their discipline in Madrid: Patrizia van der Weken from Luxembourg not only won the 60 metre sprint in Karlsruhe, but also won in Ostrava (Czech Republic) and Madrid (Spain). The Karlsruhe winner was also successful in the men's sprint with hurdles: Wilhem Belocian (France) took two second places in Liévin (France) and Madrid to win the tour. With a third place in Belgrade (Serbia), a victory with a meeting record in Karlsruhe and another first place in Madrid, the overall victory in the 400 metres went to the American Brian Faust. Over the middle distance of 1,500 metres, two third places in Ostrava and Torun (Poland) were enough for Karlsruhe winner Samuel Pihlström (Sweden) to take overall victory in this discipline. After her victory in Karlsruhe, pole vaulter Molly Caudery (Great Britain) also scored in Liévin (France, 2nd place) and won the day and the overall title in Madrid with a jump of 4.85 metres.
